Review by Jonathan Blackhall

Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's self-titled album is a stunning masterpiece that showcases the composer's exceptional talent and skill. The album features a collection of Pergolesi's finest works, performed by the Zürcher Kammerorchester and conducted by Edmond De Stoutz.

The album begins with the iconic "Stabat Mater," a breathtakingly beautiful piece that is performed with great precision and emotion. The orchestra's dynamic range is impressive, and the soloists' voices blend seamlessly with the ensemble. The album also includes other notable works such as "Salve Regina" and "Laudate pueri Dominum," each of which is performed with equal fervor and passion.

The recording quality of the album is superb, capturing every nuance and subtlety of the music. The sound is rich and full, providing an immersive listening experience that transports the listener to a different time and place.

About Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Zürcher Kammerorchester, Edmond De Stoutz

Italian Baroque violin player, organist & composer. Born January 4, 1710 in Jesi (Ancona) Italy, died March 16 or 17, 1736 in Pozzuoli (Napoli) Italy. Pergolesi composed serious and comic operas, interludes, oratories, cantatas, sacred music, instrumental music, but it was "La serva padrona" and "Stabat Mater" that ensured him undying fame. "La serva padrona" is the masterpiece of comic theater, which later became the model of this musical genre, later followed by musicians such as Mozart and Rossini.
