All Music can't get them all right! This record is the JAM! Side One opens with Meters style funky percolation of Get On Up And Dance with gritty vocals by Eddie (he started as a church vocalist as a kid in Chicago). Bad Luck (title track), is a blues groover with cool female chorus. It Feels So Good is a latin uptempo jam a la War! Side 2 opens with the beautiful downbeat blues Why Must We Part which is almost doo wop Otis Redding Try A Little Tenderness style, Obnoxious is has Rufus Reid starting with a Jaco Pastorius-esque bass solo, followed by Eddie Harris' incredible piano virtuosity (I didn't know!) then kicks into a high speed latin jam! Abstractions is an excursion into latin jazz funk, with Eddie's soaring sax solos sailing over Willie Bobo's churning congas (which an excellent addition to the mix throughout the album). Overall, an outstanding statement on experimentation and boundary expansion by the jazz funk genius, Eddie Harris.

I was lucky enough to see the man himself at the Jazz Cafe, London in 1989, in my student days. He was quite a distant character but we were in awe. I’ve been singing this to myself ever since.

Here's a transcription of the lyrics. English is not my first language so there may be some mistakes here or there, and there are also a couple of blank spaces for words I didn't understand. (Corrections and addings are well received!) I always loved this song, the one that comes to my mind when I think of hyperbole.
