Telephone-themed -- or, at least, telephone-prominent -- records appear to have been quite popular in the '50's. There were, of course, things like "Ring, Telephone, Ring" from the '40's and earlier, but in the '50's, the actual ring was even being incorporated into the record, despite the fact that the device was hardly a novelty. ... Interesting. ... Doris really belts in certain parts of this record -- somewhat uncharacteristic for her, but she sounds great. ... In this period, Doris was often supported by Paul Weston's orchestra -- with the effect that much of her backing sounds like a Jo Stafford record, as Paul -- Jo's husband -- was doing essentially all of Jo's arrangements at this same time.
R.I.P. Doris Day. You were sexy and wholesome and beautiful.
