Dobie Gray's album is a soulful masterpiece that showcases his incredible vocal range and musical versatility. From the opening track, listeners are immediately drawn in by Gray's smooth and powerful voice, which effortlessly navigates through a range of different styles and genres.

One standout track is "Drift Away," a timeless classic that has become a staple of classic rock radio. Gray's soulful delivery perfectly captures the longing and nostalgia of the lyrics, making it easy for listeners to get lost in the song's dreamy atmosphere.

Other highlights include "Loving Arms" and "The 'In' Crowd," both of which showcase Gray's ability to infuse his music with a sense of fun and playfulness while still maintaining a deep emotional resonance.

American singer and songwriter. Born: July 26, 1940 in Simonton, Texas. Died: December 6, 2011 in Nashville, Tennessee. Born into a family of sharecroppers in Simonton, Texas, and greatly influenced by his Grandfather, a Baptist Minister, Dobies life revolved around family, the church and music. Moving from Texas to California in the early 60s, Dobie met Sonny Bono, then A&R manager for Specialty Records. That encounter led to his first notable single, "Look At Me." (later recorded by The Righteous Brothers). Although "Look At Me" remained on the charts a healthy five weeks, Dobies real breakthrough came in 1965 with the release of "The 'In' Crowd." In Hollywood he enrolled in acting classes, and appeared in Theatre-group Productions, including "A Raisin In The Sun," "The Amen Corner," "Look Homeward Angel" and "Rhinoceros." His dramatic gifts eventually landed him a role in the L.A. production of the Mega Hit, Musical "Hair," in which he remained for two and a half years. "Drift Away," (1973) still heralded as his signature tune, was written by Mentor Williams.
