Canadian Country/Pop singer and drummer.
She started her career in the early 60s singing with pop group The Sapphires in Toronto and then moved onto country as vocalist with . She then drummed on tour briefly for . In 1963 she cut her first solo records in Nashville for , which proved more popular in her home country of Canada than in the U.S.
Won RPM's "Top Country Singer Female" award for 1965 and the first Juno Award for Best Country Female Singer for 1970. Inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
