Review by Karina

Deaf Chonky's self-titled debut album is a wild ride through a variety of genres, all infused with the band's unique blend of humor and energy. From the opening track "Chonky Time" to the closing "Goodbye, Chonky", the album is a non-stop barrage of catchy hooks and clever lyrics.

The band's sound is a mix of punk rock, pop, and electronic music, with influences ranging from Devo to The Ramones to Daft Punk. The result is a sound that is both familiar and fresh, with each song offering something new and unexpected.

Lyrically, the album is a tongue-in-cheek commentary on modern life, with songs about everything from social media addiction to the joys of eating pizza. It's all delivered with a sense of humor that is infectious, making it impossible not to sing along.

One of the standout tracks is "Chonky Love", a catchy pop song that features a chorus that is sure to get stuck in your head. "Chonky Time" is another highlight, with its driving beat and infectious melody.

About Deaf Chonky

Deaf Chonky is a drum-guitar-misc duo of two girls, Tami and Adi, from a small town south of Tel Aviv. They play garage-punk heavily influenced by the folk music of their childhood. Deaf Chonky (derived from the Russian word 'defchonki' - girls) released their debut album 'FARSH' in August 2016, which gained widespread popularity in the local scene. In 2017, Deaf Chonky released Silence is Violence, a short EP delving deeper into their folk-music influences, quite in contrast to their chaotic energy-intense live shows, and are currently working on their 2nd full-length album. In 2018, Deaf Chonky will be releasing a record through Garzen Records compiled of songs from Farsh and remixed by Garzen's greatest Red Axes and Manfredas.
