Review by Dr. Jina Yoo

Wolfen The Unused Score by Craig Safan is a mesmerizing album that showcases the composer's talent for creating haunting and atmospheric music. The album features unused music from the 1981 horror film Wolfen, which was directed by Michael Wadleigh. Safan's music perfectly captures the eerie and mysterious tone of the film, transporting listeners to a world of darkness and danger.

The album contains a mix of orchestral and electronic music, with each track offering a unique and evocative sound. From the haunting strings of "The Wolfen" to the pulsing synths of "The Chase," each piece is expertly crafted to create a sense of tension and unease. The album also features several tracks that incorporate Native American chants and percussion, adding to the film's thematic exploration of the relationship between humans and nature.

Hi!
Another case where idiot film producers 'junk' a superior score [Safan's] for an inferior one [Horner]. Will Hollywood ever learn?
Thanks for posting, I had no idea Safan had tried his hand at scoring this pic. Recently watched it again and realized what a blatant and hideous rip-off of Goldsmith's ALIEN score the one by James Horner was. That said, was never fond of Safan's contribution to the THIEF soundtrack; I guess whatever TD turned in did not cut it for Michael Mann.
Craig Safan's unused music sounds like Nathan Barr or Hans Zimmer scoring similar!
I've got this soundtrack. Highly underrated movie
brilliant , as is the entire movie !!!
Amazing, would have liked to have this score on a remix of the film, Horners score chosen by the suits involved in the film is okay but it was re-used remixed as the aliens score etc etc etc, Safan is a genius. This was the composer the director of Woodstock wanted to score the film, the director was fired and this fantastic Safan score never used ..... what a mistake!
It's cool and eerie at first, but then it gets a little grating as it goes on.I'm gad they stuck with the Horner score
Very nice !
Thanks
