Review by Nettoyage Entretien Industriel

Big Bob Dougherty's album, "Bob's New Boogie Turkey in the Straw Boogie," is a fantastic collection of classic boogie-woogie tunes. The album features Dougherty's masterful piano playing, which is both energetic and precise, and his band's tight, groove-oriented playing.

The album opens with the title track, a rollicking rendition of the traditional tune "Turkey in the Straw" that showcases Dougherty's nimble fingers and infectious energy. The rest of the album is filled with equally impressive performances, including the swinging "Swanee River Boogie," the bluesy "St. Louis Blues Boogie," and the funky "Funky Butt Boogie."

Throughout the album, Dougherty and his bandmates demonstrate a deep understanding of the boogie-woogie tradition, while also bringing their own unique style and flair to the music. The result is a collection of tunes that is both timeless and fresh, and that will appeal to anyone who loves good-time piano music.

Born: December 27, 1908 Leavenworth, KS. Died: September 27, 1982. Jazz / R'n'B tenor, baritone, and alto saxophone player from Leavenworth KS. He formed his first combo in 1933 and struggled to pick up gigs. In 1958 he recorded his first sessions with New York record label Golden Crest and in 1961 cut an album with the label. He cut a final single with Kansas City private label Kay in 1962.
