Mission Of Burma - Mission Of Burma

Review by Charley Wicks

Mission of Burma's self-titled album is a masterpiece of post-punk, showcasing the band's unique blend of frenzied guitar work, driving rhythms, and politically charged lyrics. From the opening track "That's When I Reach for My Revolver," with its urgent guitar riff and searing social commentary, to the closing instrumental "Untitled," the album is a tour de force of raw energy and unbridled creativity.

The band's signature sound is built around the interplay between Roger Miller's jagged guitar lines and Clint Conley's propulsive bass, all anchored by the steady drumming of Peter Prescott. The result is a sound that is simultaneously chaotic and tightly controlled, with each member contributing to a larger sonic landscape that is both challenging and rewarding.

Lyrically, the album is a call to arms, with songs like "Academy Fight Song" and "Max Ernst" railing against conformity and the status quo. The band's political stance is made clear throughout, with lyrics that are both poetic and incisive.

So amazing! I've just discovered this band. I love this album's cover.
Honesty's an actor's worst mistake.
Peter Prescot was the most incredible drummer I've ever seen live. The recordings are great, but live it was way beyond what I can convey with superlatives. Thunder of the GODS!!!
Genius. One of my all-time faves and bonus points for the morning glories.
