Review by Sam Cristoper Pari Alvarez

Hiatus Kaiyote's album Choose Your Weapon is a genre-bending masterpiece that showcases the band's unique sound and musical prowess. The album features a fusion of jazz, soul, funk, and electronic music, with each track offering a different sonic experience.

The opening track, "Choose Your Weapon," sets the tone for the album with its hypnotic beats and ethereal vocals. "Shaolin Monk Motherfunk" is a standout track that features intricate instrumentation and a catchy chorus that will have listeners grooving along.

The album also features collaborations with artists such as Q-Tip and Anderson .Paak, adding even more depth and diversity to the already impressive lineup.

Comments

I'll start by saying I'm NOT a music nerd at it's best and I don't usually write reviews so don't take this one too seriously. I do love listening to albums though. This album is a contemporary masterpiece, i've never heard something quite this mind-blowing before, being one of my favourite albums ever, it is hard to rate and review it, but hey, it's fun.The only reason why this album is not a 10 to me is (in my opinion) that it becomes at some point a difficult-to-listen album (musically speaking), specially when you listen to Atari, which seems to me a little longer than it should be, not that it's boring, as part of the album it is great, but as a song on it's own i'd say it's a tiny little bit repetitive repetitive.Every time I listen to this album I notice new details and arrangement stuff I didn't notice the last time, which is one of the things I love about this band, when listening to Choose Your Weapon you kinda have to get rid of the idea of "less is more".Stylistically speaking, this album is perfectly wide, there are a lot of different things with different moods to listen to and it doesn't get far enough to stop noticing it's Hiatus Kaiyote. In my opinion this is a must-listen album.(As I said earlier, don't take this review too seriously)Thanks for reading
