Review by Fabriciano González González

Peer Gynt Casse Noisette is a brilliant album that showcases the masterful compositions of Edvard Grieg and P.I. Tchaikovsky. The orchestral performances by the Orchestre Philharmonique De La Haye and the Orchestre Symphonique De Vienne, conducted by Willem Van Otterloo and Rudolf Moralt respectively, are simply outstanding.

From the opening notes of Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, the listener is transported to a world of vivid imagery and emotion. The lush strings and soaring woodwinds perfectly capture the spirit of this beloved work. The suite is followed by the equally impressive Peer Gynt Suite No. 2, which features some of Grieg's most memorable melodies.

The second half of the album features Tchaikovsky's timeless classic, The Nutcracker. The Orchestre Symphonique De Vienne, under the direction of Rudolf Moralt, delivers a stunning performance of this beloved ballet. From the playful melodies of the Overture to the grandeur of the Waltz of the Flowers, every note is executed with precision and passion.

Norwegian composer and pianist, born in Bergen, 15 June 1843, died 4 September 1907, also in Bergen. By borrowing rhythmic and melodic elements from Norwegian folk music, he created nationally romantic and patriotic music. Most famous are perhaps his compositions for the play "Peer Gynt" (written by Henrik Ibsen), which features pieces such as "Morning Mood" and "In The Hall of The Mountain King". Edvard Grieg is considered to be the greatest Norwegian composer of all time.
