The Cathedrals - Live In Chicago

Cathedrals' Live In Chicago album is a stunning display of the San Francisco-based duo's talents. Johnny Hwin and Brodie Jenkins are both captivating performers, and their live energy is palpable throughout the record. The album features a mix of old and new material, including tracks from their debut EP and their 2014 LP, "Cathedrals."

The duo's signature blend of electro-pop and R&B is on full display here, with Hwin's intricate guitar work and Jenkins' powerful vocals shining through. Standout tracks include "In The Dark," "Want My Love," and "OOO AAA," all of which showcase the duo's ability to craft catchy, danceable tunes.

One of the most impressive aspects of Live In Chicago is how well the duo's sound translates to a live setting. The album was recorded during a sold-out show at Chicago's Schubas Tavern, and the crowd's energy is palpable throughout. The album also features a few surprise covers, including a stunning rendition of Prince's "When Doves Cry" and a medley of TLC's "No Scrubs" and Ginuwine's "Pony."

About The Cathedrals

Years Active: 1963 - 1999 Origin: Stow, Ohio, U.S.A. An American Southern Gospel Quartet that lasted from 1963 until their retirement in December 1999. In 1963, Glen Payne, Bobby Clark, and Danny Koker formed the Cathedral Trio for evangelist Rex Humbard at the Cathedral of Tomorrow in Akron, Ohio. With the addition of bass singer George Younce a year later, the Cathedral Trio became the Cathedral Quartet. The Cathedrals immediately became a sensation with their smooth quartet sound. The tenor and baritone position changed often during the Cathedrals' long career, but the four most stable versions had George Younce (who joined the trio in November 64) and Glen Payne, teamed with Roy Tremble (tenor), and George Amon Webster (baritone) from 19741979; Kirk Talley (tenor), and Mark Trammell (baritone) from 19801983; Danny Funderburk (tenor), and Mark Trammell (baritone) from 19831990; Ernie Haase (tenor) and Mark Trammell just in 1990; and Ernie Haase (tenor), and Scott Fowler (baritone) from 1991-2000.
