Review by Allen Skiles

Arthur Rubinstein's Hommage à Arthur Rubinstein Quatre Concertos is a stunning tribute to one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. The album showcases Rubinstein's virtuosity and musicality through his performances of four piano concertos by some of the most celebrated composers of his time, including Brahms, Beethoven, Chopin, and Tchaikovsky.

The album opens with Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 83, which Rubinstein delivers with a powerful and expressive touch. His interpretation of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, Op. 73, also known as the Emperor, is equally impressive, with Rubinstein's masterful phrasing and dynamic range bringing out the full depth and richness of the piece.

Rubinstein's performance of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2, Op. 21, is a highlight of the album, showcasing his unparalleled ability to convey the emotional and romantic elements of Chopin's music. His performance of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 23, is equally stunning, with Rubinstein's technical skill and musicality shining through in every note.
