The Madison by Al Brown's Tunetoppers is a classic album that showcases the best of 1960s R&B and soul. The album features a mix of instrumental and vocal tracks that are sure to get listeners grooving and dancing.

One of the standout tracks on the album is the title track, "The Madison." This instrumental track is a perfect example of the infectious dance music that was popular at the time. With its catchy melody and driving beat, it's easy to see why this song became a hit.

This is the version for sure. Really Boss Man.
My dad had this record and I remember playing on his old record player when I was a kid and I thought it was so good and catchy, but could never find it until now. Thank you!
My mom used to play this jam on our Saturday night record party's when I and my younger siblings were kids. We would all get up and try to follow her moves when the D.J. called them out. As a kid growing up in in the early 1960's inner city in Chicago, there were tough times, but we had our fun too.
This sounds like the "uptown" version of the "Madison". The Brown band was from D.C., and their record came out just days before Ray Bryant's. The latter was better musically with its all-star horns and Bryant's jumpin' piano (not to mention DJ Eddie Morrison's mysterious calls- what was a "Cleveland Box" anyway?). This one's slicker, but a lot easier to follow. Not sure which one charted higher. I do know, though, that this dance was really hot in the D.C. and Baltimore markets.
awww man i remember...............i can still run it
i only know this version.....and the one annette danced to on tv....
Just heard this on Golden Years Radio . net and all the 60's music that gets played takes me back to the good old days when I had a rock band called The Presidents. Our recording for Decca in 1965 was lost for 53 years and just released in June 2018 and Golden Years has included it in the playlist. Got the old band back together and made a video so it's me 78 miming to me singing 25 - great fun and who knows we might trend : -) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjcKGcM0Rtc
Best version!
I only remember here this once or twice.  It was Ray Bryant's version that was the monster hit.  I loved doing the Madison.  You always did it really cool like you were bored to death to be there doing it.  LOL.  There were changes to the Ray Bryant version.  They were both good.
This was the only version I remember, thanks for posting!
Best version!
Now this is The Madison that I remember!! I loved this vocal version. Thank you...
Thanks for posting this song, I've been looking for it for sometime now. My grandma had this tune on an unmarked 45.
