Years & Years' latest album, Shine, is a worthy addition to their discography. The British synth-pop trio's sophomore effort is a vibrant and energetic collection of songs that showcase their growth as artists. The album features a mix of upbeat and introspective tracks that explore themes of love, self-discovery, and resilience.
The album's lead single, "Sanctify," sets the tone with its infectious beat and catchy chorus. The song's lyrics touch on the struggles of coming to terms with one's sexuality and finding acceptance. Other standout tracks include "Hallelujah," a soaring anthem about the power of love, and "Karma," an introspective ballad about the consequences of one's actions.
Shine also features collaborations with some of the biggest names in pop music, including Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter. Michaels lends her songwriting talents to the track "If You're Over Me," which is a standout with its bouncy rhythm and relatable lyrics about moving on from a toxic relationship.
