Review by kathlyn anne segovia

Cloister, the collaborative album by Tom Chant and Sharif Sehnaoui, is a mesmerizing exploration of improvisational free jazz and experimental soundscapes. The album features Chant's haunting saxophone melodies and Sehnaoui's intricate guitar work, both of which blend seamlessly to create a hauntingly beautiful sonic landscape.

The album's opening track, "Cloister," sets the tone for the rest of the album, with its slowly unfolding saxophone lines and sparse guitar accompaniment. The duo's improvisational prowess is on full display throughout the album, as they weave in and out of each other's playing, creating a constantly shifting and evolving sound.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Spiral," which features Chant's saxophone lines spiraling around Sehnaoui's distorted guitar chords. The track builds to a frenzied climax before slowly winding down, leaving the listener feeling both exhilarated and emotionally drained.
