Stone was a thrash metal band formed in Kerava, Finland in 1985. Stone played an important part in Finnish metal scene, and was a pioneer of thrash metal in its home country. Their self-titled debut album was released in United States in 1988 and was a promising success, but hopes for an international breakthrough came to grief when their US tour was canceled on a work permit issue. The band released four albums before disbanding in 1991 to pursue different musical directions. During their last tour they recorded a live album, which was released in 1992.
Stone reunited to play a set of concerts in 1999 and 2000, but parted ways again soon afterwards. In 20082009, Stone made five reunion appearances, and the band reunited again for 20132014 to play 11 club/festival shows.
