Sir Arthur Bliss Conducting London Symphony Orchestra - Suite From Things To Come

Review by Iván Lleite

Suite From Things To Come, conducted by Sir Arthur Bliss and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra, is a beautiful and captivating album. The music is inspired by H.G. Wells' novel, "The Shape of Things to Come," and it is clear that Bliss has put a lot of thought and care into translating the book's themes into musical form.

The album is a suite of eight pieces, each with its own distinct character and mood. From the stirring brass fanfare of the opening "Prologue" to the hauntingly beautiful "Epilogue," the music takes the listener on a journey through a world of hope, despair, and ultimately, redemption.

The London Symphony Orchestra's performance is exceptional, with each instrument and section contributing to the overall effect of the music. Bliss's conducting is masterful, bringing out the nuances of the score and guiding the orchestra through the complex rhythms and harmonies.
