Originally a bedroom artist from Auckland New Zealand.
P.H.F. or Perfect Hair Forever is a primarily Lo-Fi Pop-Punk band combining the elements of high school emotion and anxiety along with the melodic but harsh wailing of electric guitar and pounding percussion.
While this has been the most common of their sound in most recent years, styles have ranged from nostalgic sounding Rock & Roll, Surf Rock, and even some Doo-Wop in there.
Perfect Hair Forever finds their origins as a bedroom band started by Joe Locke, recording songs in his parent's bathroom when they weren't home in 2008.
Joe got his start in music with a band in high school he shared with four other girls that apparently didn't last very long when everybody in the band began to move away.
So Joe kept to himself about music after that.
When Joe releases a song on the internet he will completely dump and destroy any recording material made previous to uploading it.
He's said he does this so that he never hears it again. "I don't need it anymore and I don't want to be able to change it anymore so for me it makes sense to get rid of it."
While at first trying to remain anonymous while producing under the moniker of Perfect Hair Forever, Joe eventually broke free of this and is now a full band composed of
Nigel Wright - Bass
Reuben Winter - Drums
Sam Wieck - Guitar
Joe Locke - Vocals
Joe has said he pulls influence from Buddy Holly, Lou Christie, and Perry Como and considers them his, "Holy Trinity"
Joe picked the name "Perfect Hair Forever" from a short lived show on Adult Swim by the same name, made by the same team behind Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
He now normally goes by "P.H.F." presumably to distance the band from the show or just to make a long name shorter while still hanging onto the original name.
