MDC - Millions Of Dead Cops

Millions of Dead Cops is an album that has stood the test of time. Released in 1982 by the American punk rock band MDC, it is a politically charged and socially conscious album that continues to resonate with audiences today.
The album features aggressive and fast-paced punk rock tracks that tackle issues such as police brutality, racism, and political corruption. The lyrics are raw and unapologetic, with lead singer Dave Dictor delivering them with a sense of urgency that is impossible to ignore.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "John Wayne Was a Nazi," which takes aim at the glorification of violence and racism in American culture. Another notable track is "Born to Die," which addresses the senseless violence and destruction of war.

- This is the original mix and cover as the first, self released version of the album. Limited pressing of 75 # printed on back of jacket in red.
- This is a reissue of the original 1982 version / first mix, with a slightly different track order on side B.
- Printed double-sided lyric insert included.
- Appears to have been released around the same time as this version: 'Millions Of Dead Cops'. However, there is no numbering on the back of the outer sleeve.
- Label is misprinted and reads "PMV #44." Spine shows "PNV #44."
- Recorded December 1981 in Houston.
- Heavy cardboard cover with black border, with "R Radical Records 1982" mention on front, but without Ⓒ Ⓟ logos on the right.
- No "RE-1 14161" & "RE-1 14162" etchings appear in runout areas on this version of the release, a small " ³ " is etched instead on both sides.

- The record plant made an error and accidentally printed covers with orange background instead of the ordered red colored one. So the band waited for the correctly printed red covers before they distributed and sold the first pressing of the record (with printed center labels) to public. The first pressing quickly sold out and the band ended up pressing more record (with plain white center labels). They used the covers with the orange background which they bought at a discount from the pressing plant and combined them with these repressed records.
- So the first pressing of the record was actually sold in a reprinted cover.

About MDC
MDC, or Millions of Dead Cops, began in 1979 in Austin, Texas as The Stains. They released the classic "John Wayne was a Nazi" 7" in 1980, half of the pressing was under the Stains name, half "MDC-Stains". That year MDC relocated to San Francisco, following the lead of fellow leftist Texans the Dicks. Witnessing a violent police riot at their show with Flag in Orange County inspired the new name (the change was necessitated by fellow opening band the Stains from LA).
