The Liszt Orchestre Philharmonique de Berlin, under the direction of Herbert von Karajan, has released an impressive album titled Rapsodies Hongroises N 4 Et N 5 Tasso Lamento Et Trionfo. The album features two of Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies, as well as his tone poem Tasso, Lamento et Trionfo.

The orchestra's performance is impeccable, with each section contributing to a cohesive and powerful sound. The strings are particularly notable, with their lush and emotive playing adding depth to Liszt's complex compositions. Karajan's conducting is also noteworthy, as he expertly navigates the many shifts in tempo and dynamics throughout the pieces.

The standout track on the album is undoubtedly Tasso, Lamento et Trionfo. The piece tells the story of the Italian poet Torquato Tasso, and Liszt's music perfectly captures the emotional highs and lows of his life. The orchestra's performance is both grand and intimate, with the quieter moments conveying a sense of deep sadness and the louder sections evoking a triumphant spirit.

Born: October 22, 1811, Doborján, Austria-Hungary (present-day Raiding, Austria). Died: July 31, 1886, Bayreuth, Germany. Franz Liszt was a Hungarian composer, virtuoso pianist, conductor, music teacher, arranger, organist, philanthropist, author, nationalist and a Franciscan tertiary. He was a renowned performer throughout Europe, noted especially for his showmanship and great skill with the piano. To this day, he is considered by some to have been the greatest pianist in history. Liszt's musical invention went into territories which were then almost unexplored, in particular as regards harmonic research, as emerges from the late piano works, which led him to anticipate fragments of harmonies from the early twentieth century. His preference for program music is testified by the numerous symphonic poems he composed. Father-in-law to .
