Review by Christie Dolendo

Kraków, the latest album by Kayo Dot Tartar Lamb II, is a mesmerizing journey through experimental soundscapes and haunting melodies. The album features a unique blend of avant-garde jazz, post-rock, and classical music, creating an otherworldly listening experience.

The album opens with "Sirius Brain Part 1," a beautiful and eerie track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Each song on Kraków has its own distinct sound and mood, yet they all flow seamlessly together. The use of unconventional instruments, such as the hurdy-gurdy and the bass clarinet, adds to the album's mystical atmosphere.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Visitor," a hauntingly beautiful piece that showcases the band's incredible musicianship. The intricate guitar work and soaring vocals are breathtaking, and the song builds to a powerful crescendo that leaves a lasting impression.

About Kayo Dot Tartar Lamb II

Kayo Dot is an avant-and/or-compositional-rock band hailing from New York City. Led by composer Toby Driver, Kayo Dot began after the band maudlin of the Well disbanded. Their hallucinatory music has its roots in doom-goth, progressive rock, and new age, and has combined these influences with their experiences in the modern classical and avant-jazz worlds of downtown New York to create a completely unique, complex, heartbreaking, and meticulously composed genreless sound all their own.
