Review by Kevin Britt

The album 3 String Quartets by Haydn, performed by the Hungarian Quartet and Dekány Quartet, is a delightful collection of classical music that showcases the genius of Haydn and the skill of these two quartets. The album features three of Haydn's most famous and beloved quartets: Op. 20, No. 5, Op. 33, No. 2, and Op. 64, No. 5.

The Hungarian Quartet and Dekány Quartet both bring their unique interpretations to these pieces, resulting in a dynamic and varied listening experience. The Hungarian Quartet's playing is characterized by its precision and clarity, while the Dekány Quartet's performance is marked by its warmth and intimacy. Together, these two quartets create a balanced and nuanced sound that is a joy to listen to.

The album's production is top-notch, with excellent sound quality that captures the nuances of each instrument. The liner notes provide insightful commentary on each piece and offer a deeper understanding of Haydn's music.

About Haydn, Hungarian Quartet, Dekány Quartet

Born: 1732-03-31 (Rohrau, Austria) Born 31 march or 1st April, 1732. Died: 1809-09-05 (Vienna, Austria). Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He brings the "sonata form" to a very high degree of improvement. His symphonies and his string quartets (forms of which he is considered "the father") have become highly inspirational style models. Haydn made a fundamental contribution to the development of chamber music; thanks to the numerous quartets, trios for piano, for strings and also with the unusual trios for baryton, viola and cello.
