About Golden Earring
Long-standing, Dutch rock band, founded in 1961 as 'The Tornados'. They changed their name to 'The Golden Earrings' in 1963, then shortened it to 'Golden Earring' in 1969. Known amongst their fans as just 'The Earring'. Their first single, 'Please Go', was released in September 1965.
On 5 February 2021, they announced to the Dutch press their active career was over, due to George Kooymans' illness.

A great song from a great album from a great band! I agree with the statement about Golden Earring being underrated. They may very well be perhaps the most underrated rock ‘n’ roll band of all time!

Traveled from Oklahoma to San Diego to see G.E., they opened for Rush. that was a twofer. Golden earring must have thought the crowd was only there for Rush but when they broke into Candy's gone bad, the entire arena almost levitated ( it seemed like it me anyway, could have been the acid) .Been a golden earring fanatic since 74. yeah I am a old fcuker.
To bad radio stations play same handful of songs instead of lesser known songs.
I saw them in 75 in Liverpool UK. They were fantastic. Cesar did his legendary 'kit jump' and blew the whole theatre away even further than the rest of the band had taken them already.. hay's energy was overwhelming, and they were so fucking tight... Outstanding... xxx ;-)

I started listening to golden earring when I was stationed in germany, I discovered german albums were a lot better than American albums because they were thicker, I loved the album moontan and another group wishbone ash. I saw uriah heep in a school gyymnasium. It was a crazy time.
My favorite Golden Earring album. I played it about 200 times when it came out and bought it. I grew up near The Hague. I saw them once playing with .38 Special In Honolulu. I still play it loudly in my car. You should start your GE collection with this. The Dutch Rolling Stones! All tracks are perfect.

great album .used to listen many years back love album cover .drunk a lot of vodka and played this one
When I grew up in Holland in the 70's & 80's GE was not considered a really cool band, sort of low-brow. Now, in retrospect, I think they have done some really weird stuff. Great back-catalogue to browse. Do check out the live clip of N.E.W.S., about ten years after The Switch.....
