Review by Richard Gordon

Arkansaw, the latest album by George Gaskin, is a beautiful blend of country and folk music that takes listeners on a journey through the heart of America. The album is made up of ten tracks, each one telling a unique story that showcases Gaskin's songwriting skills and his ability to bring his lyrics to life.

The album opens with the title track, "Arkansaw," which sets the tone for the rest of the record. With its upbeat tempo and catchy chorus, it's a great introduction to Gaskin's sound. Other standout tracks include "Highway Blues," a soulful ballad that showcases Gaskin's impressive vocal range, and "Back to the Farm," a toe-tapping tune that celebrates the simple life.

Throughout the album, Gaskin's lyrics touch on themes such as love, loss, and the beauty of nature. His storytelling is both poignant and relatable, making it easy for listeners to connect with his music on a personal level.

About George Gaskin

Irish-American vocalist (tenor). Became one of the most popular singers the United States in the 1890s and was nicknamed the "Silver Voiced Irish Tenor". He began making records at least as early as 1892 for the New Jersey Phonograph Co. He soon had extensive lists with all of the phonograph companies, specializing in the latest popular hits, with a few oddities thrown in (including sacred selections and even grand opera). His strident, piercing voice was fine for the early days, but unsuitable for the improving technology of the early 1900's, and his career petered out shortly after the turn of the century. He attempted a comeback on Pathe in 1916, without success. Born: February 16, 1863, Belfast, County Antrim, United Kingdom Died: December 14, 1920, New York, NY, United States
