About Gamma

US hard rock band formed in 1979 by guitarist Ronnie Montrose and singer Davey Pattison. Main period of activity was from 1979 to 1983. A short reunion occurred in 2000 and after Montrose's death in 2012, Davey Pattison formed a new version of the band in 2013.

I really liked the first two Gamma albums but the later ones were too synthy for me.

RONNIE+GAMMA got quite progressive yet still quite powerful on GAMMA 3--here on the wild outer space-jam "MOBILE DEVOTION".

Great layers of production with Mitchell Froom's synthesizers prominent in the mix.
Great call+response soloing between Ronnie + Mitchell.
MOBILE DEVOTION is great music to listen to with the lights down, candles lit with a good pair of headphones, or great stereo system.

The last third of MOBILE DEVOTION is an outer space jam with layers of synthesizers, rhythm guitar work+ stinging guitar solo by Ronnie...its pure GAMMA, and that last third section reminiscent of the last third of Starship Trooper by the rock group Yes.

Denny Carmassi+Glenn Letsch are right there note-for-note with Ronnie and Mitchell and the off-kilter stop time signatures and Davey Pattison belts out the stream-of-consciousness lyrics with particular power as usual!

Not long 4gotten in my house. I DIG Ronnie Montrose and it is up 2 us, the fans 2 keep his music alive. HOW ? Just play his music and friends ask ' WHO R U JAMMIN' 2" I ALSO THEN TELL THEM ALL THE GREAT NAMES OF ROCK THAT WORKED WITH Ronnie. GONE BUT NOT 4 GOTTEN. Tune in and turn up the volume.
