Review by Amy Lignor

We Are Here, the 1972 album by Flower Travellin' Band, is a psychedelic rock masterpiece that showcases the band's unique blend of hard rock, blues, and traditional Japanese music. The album is a journey through different moods and sounds, from the heavy riffing of "Satori Part 1" to the haunting balladry of "Hiroshima".

The album's standout moment is the epic "Satori Part 2", a 23-minute opus that builds from a slow, meditative intro to a thunderous climax of guitars, drums, and vocals. The band's musicianship is on full display here, as they seamlessly shift between different tempos and moods, creating a mesmerizing and thrilling listening experience.

Other highlights include the bluesy "Kamikaze", the folk-inspired "Hiroshima", and the hard-rocking "Black Sabbath". The band's use of traditional Japanese instruments, such as the shakuhachi and koto, adds a unique flavor to the music and sets it apart from other psychedelic rock bands of the era.
