Review by mariz galo

Requiem by Fauré is a timeless masterpiece that has been performed countless times by various artists. However, the King's College Choir, New Philharmonia Orchestra, and David Willcocks have created a truly exceptional rendition of this work.

The album is a perfect showcase of the choir's exceptional talent and the orchestra's impeccable playing. The music is hauntingly beautiful, and the choir's voices blend seamlessly with the orchestra's instruments to create a truly mesmerizing sound.

David Willcocks' direction is evident in the way the choir and orchestra work together to create a seamless and cohesive sound. The balance between the various sections of the orchestra and choir is perfect, and the dynamics are expertly handled.

The soloists on the album are also exceptional, with their performances adding a new dimension to the music. The soprano in particular is outstanding, with her voice soaring above the choir and orchestra to create a truly ethereal sound.

My old old school concert work. I played the harp part arranged for the piano because we do have a harp at school.
Masterpiece, masterpiece, thanks for posting !

I like this one.....
Commercials ……SMH???
This recording was made whilst I was in 2nd form at school and released the following year. This is when I was introduced to it and fell instantly in love with the piece. I have had the good fortune to perform it several times, in choirs and ensembles of all sizes. To this day, for my money, this recording is still the best in existence?
At the very least, the best Pie Jesu....even better than Jaroussky (lovely, but overdoes it).
My favorite recording of this (since it was the first one I had over 50 years ago).
My Mom was an organist and choirmaster. in 1979, she and my Dad attended a choral concert in London conducted by Sir David. She had a conversation with him after the concert and likened the experience to meeting God himself, that's how much she respected him.
"Hosanna" is elsewhere and some other things elsewhere. Or maybe I've just heard this work before. I have to rely on radio for music and the people who can get those jobs aren't always affectionate to music or us. Sure are quite a few good elements to Faure.
THIS VERSION IS ABSOLUTELY SUBLIME. ABSOLUTELY SUBLIME. BEAUTY, BEAUTY, BEAUTY!
The Agnus Dei from this recording was a track on the very first record I ever bought - a “These You Have Loved” now, that really ages me!
I sang this in school, and it was about the only worthwhile thing given to me in that pointless conditioning establishment! It's wonderful in every way.
Obra maestra sin paliativos
No sé si suficientemente valorada
Brilliant conducting and the voices!!
Good tempo and other things. That said, looking more modern? I'd still probably stick with Gardiner.
