Review by George Psarros

Expo Seventy's album Virtually From The Unknown is a mesmerizing journey through experimental psychedelic music. The album features seven tracks that showcase the band's mastery of creating soundscapes that transport the listener to another realm.

The album opens with the track "Sunrise Ocean Bender," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its dreamy guitar riffs and hypnotic percussion. The following tracks "Electricity on the Way" and "The Slow Death of Tomorrow" continue to build on this otherworldly atmosphere with their intricate instrumentation and haunting vocals.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Transcending Beyond," which features a mesmerizing guitar solo that seems to stretch on forever. The track "Echoes of Ether" is another highlight, with its pulsing rhythms and ethereal melodies that create a sense of floating in space.

About Expo Seventy

Expo 70 was formed in Los Angeles by Justin Wright as a side-project, while he was playing guitar in Living Science Foundation. Initially, the group also included Wrights friend, (PK, ) . The pair improvised creating sounds bouncing effect-ridden instruments creating a wide range of textures and moods. Expo '70s first recording and inception was during PKs project SXBRS recording session, resulting in one of many split releases on PK's label. After playing two shows (with Parts & Labor and , respectively), they ventured back into the studio. Live July 18, 2004 was recorded with the help of Bryan Levene), and recalls the spirit of the improvisational drones. Returning to the midwest upon the breakup of LSF, Wright began developing Expo 70 further, collaborating with McKinley Jones of the Kansas City-based . The pair recorded Surfaces in late 2005, adding synths over improvised guitar tracks pieced together by Jones. In February 2006, Wright completed Exquisite Lust, his first fully-realized vision of Expo 70.
