Comments

Still loving Elvis in 2023.
I do!
He is a legend.his music will last forever.
What a voice awesome
This song sucks so hard
A Good Year for the Roses
George Jones

I can hardly bear the sight of lipstick
On the cigarettes there in the ashtray
Lyin' cold the way you left them
But at least your lips caressed them while you packed
And a lip print on a half-filled cup of coffee that you poured and didn't drink
But at least you thought you wanted it, and that's so much more than I can say for me

It's been a good year for the roses
Many blooms still linger there
The lawn could stand another mowin'
Funny, I don't even care
When you turned and walked away
And as the door behind you closes
The only thing I know to say
It's been a good year for the roses

After three full years of marriage
It's the first time that you haven't made the bed
I guess the reason we're not talkin', there's so little left to say we haven't said
While a million thoughts go racin' through my mind, I find I haven't spoke a word
And from the bedroom those familiar sounds of our one baby's cryin' goes unheard

But what a good year for the roses
Many blooms still linger there
The lawn could stand another mowin'
Funny, I don't even care
And when you turned and walked away
As the door behind you closes
The only thing I know to say
It's been a good year for the roses
... sacred song!!!...
Let's not forget Jerry Chesnut who wrote it. He also wrote another favourite of mine, Faron Young's 'It's Four In The Morning'. I'm not big into country, so it shows how fundamental the songwriting is!
Yes, a most poignant song for me, the sadnesses acknowledged we all have to endure in life, but accept beautiful interventions even amid your pain, still true in 2023 for me
Going to see the show in Bethlehem, PA next month - last saw him in Philly at the Tower in 1982 -- (with Squeeze) could not be more "pumped"
Always loved this❤
Elvis Costello, total FUD.
I love this ?
Damn, that's fine. First heard it when I was 17. Love Counting Crows version, when I was in college (late) . Great English Country. Though we
US Micks love our Declan, dear man.
Beautiful song reminds me of lost love.
Broke my heart, twice, ouch.
Ha. Been here .done this
an Englishman shows the Americans how to sing country
Still loving it!
