This particular song never gets old for me. I saw Elton in concert in July 1976 in Pontiac Michigan when Rock of the Westies was his most recent album. He opened the show with Grow Some Funk of Your Own to 70 thousand hysterical fans.
Awesome
Just surfin the web and realized I hadn't heard ROTW for a loooong time. Thanks to RonnieFriend for this! I'll have to dig out the vinyl, crank it up and annoy the neighbors!! ;)
John could rock out.
Elton Rock John! Over The Top!!!!!!
As I am not a native English speaker, can someone explain me what "funk" means in the context of this song? Could never understand it. Thanks!
Rock i Love it

This Song Went To Number 14 On The Billboard Hot 100 Chart In 1976.
So does anybody think that Elton's saying the f-word at the end/outro or is it just me?
That was great, her brass-knuckle boyfriend, grabbed him by the arm! LOL
great video...i luv u put all the album sleeve pics and kiki etc in. thank u 4 the wonderful memories....
This is what I like about EJ. He can rip your heart out with a ballad...then turn around and rock your ass off with a song like this.
The situation was ridiculous!!!
This has always been a favorite of mine -- for 40 years! The whole album is great. Thanks for posting!
