Review by Abuzer Nawab

David Matthews' interpretation of the iconic "Theme From Star Wars" is a bold and imaginative take on John Williams' original score. The album features a range of dynamic arrangements that showcase the versatility of Matthews' jazz fusion style. From the opening track, "Star Wars (Main Theme)," to the hauntingly beautiful "Princess Leia's Theme," Matthews infuses each piece with his own unique energy and artistry. The standout track, "The Imperial March," is a stirring rendition that captures the dark allure of the original score, while adding a fresh and exciting twist. Theme From Star Wars is a must-have for any fan of the franchise or lover of jazz fusion music. Matthews' skillful and creative approach to these classic compositions is sure to impress and delight listeners of all ages.

I remember I bought this record (the long playing version, actually), in 1977 when I was 10, thinking that it was Meco´s version.
Bye Princess Leia
Listen--- Joe Shepley in a solo spot on David Matthews' masterpiece concept album,
"Dune" (CTI, 1977), on which he was featured playing the melody (on
flugelhorn) on John Williams' "Princess Leia's Theme," a beautiful
ballad from the "Star Wars" soundtrack.

Thought that was Chewbacca instead of a guitar solo at 1:46
Being Darth Vader of the crossfader I always used to love cutting and scratching up two copies of this on my Technics decks as the breakbeat is cosmically way intergalactic groovy and is more powerful than the force of the dark side!
Starkology by Ghostface Killah sampled this. Loved it.

I have been looking for this version of the Star Wars theme for ages. They used play it on WAIA-FM in Miami back when the phenomenon was catching fire.
