Pianist, producer, arranger, conductor and bandleader, David Matthews is well known for having been arranger for in the beginning of the 70s and later has been closely associated with 's .
He has also composed for television and commercial advertisement, but is also leader of both the and the , two acts very popular in Japan.

One of his main hits as a composer is Could Heaven Ever Be Like This, which he composed, arranged and produced for . He now lives in Japan.
