Review by daisuke kataoka

I Remember Clifford by Clifford Brown is a timeless classic that showcases the exceptional talent of the late jazz trumpeter. The album is a tribute to Clifford's friend and fellow musician, Clifford Brown, who tragically died in a car accident at the young age of 25. The album features a collection of ballads and up-tempo tunes that highlight Clifford's virtuosity and sensitivity as a musician.

The album opens with the title track, "I Remember Clifford," a poignant and emotional tribute to Clifford Brown. The song is a beautiful ballad that features Clifford's signature lyrical style and showcases his ability to convey deep emotions through his trumpet playing. The album also includes several up-tempo tunes, such as "Parisian Thoroughfare" and "Lands End," that display Clifford's technical prowess and his ability to swing with ease.

The album features a stellar lineup of musicians, including saxophonist Sonny Rollins, pianist Richie Powell, and drummer Max Roach. The musicians' chemistry is evident throughout the album, and their performances complement Clifford's playing perfectly.

Comments

I love the tenor sax solo, Harold land, I have an alto sax, learning how to blow on it.
My favorite Clifford Brown solo.
Young Richie Powellr at piano. We lost 2 great musicians during that car crash.
