Review by George Pond

Caldera Lakes' self-titled album is a mesmerizing journey through the ethereal landscapes of post-rock and ambient music. The album features seven tracks, each one exploring different textures and soundscapes to create a unique sonic experience.

From the opening track "Moss and Lichen," Caldera Lakes establishes a dreamlike atmosphere with layers of delicate guitar melodies and atmospheric drones. The album's centerpiece, "Cascade," is a stunning 14-minute epic that builds slowly from a simple piano motif into a massive wall of sound, complete with crashing drums and soaring guitar lines.

Throughout the album, Caldera Lakes showcase their mastery of dynamics and their ability to create lush, immersive soundscapes. The haunting "Frost" features a haunting vocal sample that adds an eerie quality to the track, while "Glacial Drift" is a slow-burning meditation on space and time that gradually builds to a cathartic climax.
