Review by Victor Gimenes

Jiveformation Please 1938-1941 by Cab Calloway is a collection of swing jazz classics that will transport listeners back to the heyday of the genre. The album features some of Calloway's most popular tracks, including "Jumpin' Jive," "The Calloway Boogie," and "Minnie the Moocher," which showcase his signature scat singing and energetic stage presence.

The album opens with the upbeat "Jumpin' Jive," which sets the tone for the rest of the record. Calloway's unique style of singing and his band's tight arrangements are on full display, making it easy to see why he was such a popular performer during this era. The album also includes slower, more romantic tracks like "I'll Be Around" and "I'm Crazy 'Bout My Baby," which showcase Calloway's versatility as a vocalist.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Minnie the Moocher," which has become one of Calloway's most enduring hits. The song's catchy melody and memorable lyrics have made it a staple of swing jazz and a favorite of Calloway's fans. Another highlight is "The Calloway Boogie," which features some impressive piano playing by Calloway's longtime collaborator, Bennie Payne.
