I have the vinyl!! lol
A GEM of nostalgia, another unwished wish fulfilled by YouTube, that welcomes me back to a gratifying, peaceful, gracious and cherished time. LIsten closely, for these qualities abound in this masterpiece of simplicity and dulcet Harmony - inviting us back to The Old Republic before it was abused and despoiled by deadly spiteful politicians and bankers. ............. Thank You, CatsPjamas1 !
Another favorite song from my childhood days. Loved to sing along. Still do.
Happy Birthday to the Late Blue ? Barron! Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas ⛄? Go HUG someone today IF they're been vaccinated or not ? Blessings and Hugs ????????????????????????????????????????????????????!

My gran taught me this song when I was very young. Now she has Alzheimers and all I have of her are our songs and the memories!

The Blue Baron Orchestra cam to my hometown as a result of the ladies Junior Service Club in 1958, as I recall. They were great. They played for three hours and non-stop. That was in Venice, Il at the American Legion, Post 307. Those were the days, as is said by many old timers such as me now.
@grannyhotpants Those must have been great times. Thanks so much for commenting!
Yes, it was. While I was growing up, he taught me so much and I Loved hearing his storiees about being on the road . I really enjoyed it! Thanks again, Chris (Straub) Siegel) :)
Yes he did. His name was Ernie Straub, and he was one of the three "Blue Notes". "Blue" nicknamed him "Hotcha". He sang backup and played coronet.
@grannyhotpants You're welcome! Did your father sing on this recording?
Thanks for the memories, Cat'sPjamas! My Father, Ernie Straub, was one of the three "Blue Notes". I MISS HIM SO MUCH!
@TheSteamtramman You used thorns?
Köszönöm a feltöltést <:o)
No problem; an elderly neighbour (who had done the same in the First World War) showed us what to look for: blackthorn bush I think. Lasted at best a handful of playings. Said neighbour also had 80 rpm records of great age. I am told at one time, probably 1920s, you could get a thorn sharpener. Big business!!
by the end of the war we could not get steel needles for our 78s and had to use thorns from the hedgerows; this record just missed that!!
