It wasn't really rare but by 1967 top 40 radio wouldn't play it. Bert's music was shifted from the pop music chart to the adult contemporary chart and only the dwindling adult style radio stations, gradually only FM, played this music so singles were not distributed as much to the record stores. They had to be ordered by customers. "Hold Me" got a lot of adult airplay but adult record buyers favored albums by that time and the Hold Me album sold fairly well. Another single from the album "Hold Me" that got a lot of radio play was Bert's version of the Tijuana Brass song "So What's New".
This a wonderful and tricky arrangement, beautifully played. BK was an absolute master!
It's amazing to see this rare single of Hold Me by BK. Sounds good too on the whole. I rarely saw singles by BK let alone albums by him. I guess when I was hooked on BK the rest of the public wasn't which was when the Beatles were popular.
