Lead singer Rasmus Arbirk has, after breaking up his band Dead Young Oaks, which was chosen for the Danish music competition Karrierekanonen in 2013 with eg. Minds Of ́99, pulled the plug completely from the musicscene.
But only for a small period of time, as he has used the time to reflect on his own life and his music. And with only himself to answer for he has recorded his debutalbum where both the music and the lyrics depicts an artist that has the audacity to be both fragile and reckless at the same time. The songs are about love, loss, anger and pain and with deep empathy, Rasmus invites the listener on a journey through the darkest, but also most beautiful parts of the mind.
The debutalbum Disguises can be understood and experienced in many ways. Completely aware and intentional, several different stories, metaphors and themes are being waved in and out of each other throughout the whole album.
After falling asleep, our main character moves through a dream and nightmare world, where at first the past is being examined. Initially it is almost therapeutic and constructive, but during the course of the album/night it becomes more and more incoherent and violent. Along the way our main character loses sight of her/himself and can no longer recognize what he/she has become. It all ends on Bridge Queen Louisa where a longing for what might be on the other side of death causes our narrator to throw him/herself into death. Only to wake up from dreaming, now completely aware that something needs to be fixed.
