Warrant's album 86 97 is a nostalgic trip down memory lane for fans of the band's earlier work. The album features re-recorded versions of some of their biggest hits from the 80s and 90s, as well as a few new tracks.
Lead singer Robert Mason does an admirable job of filling the shoes of original frontman Jani Lane, capturing his signature vocal style while also putting his own spin on the songs. The updated versions of classics like "Cherry Pie" and "Heaven" sound fresh and polished, while still retaining the catchy hooks and sing-along choruses that made them hits in the first place.
The new tracks on the album, such as "Perfect" and "Only Broken Heart", fit seamlessly alongside the older material and showcase the band's continued ability to write catchy, radio-friendly rock tunes.
