Of Beauty Reminiscing, the latest album by Vikki Jackman, is a mesmerizing collection of ambient soundscapes that transport the listener to a dreamlike world of ethereal beauty. From the opening track, "Gossamer," with its delicate piano chords and haunting vocals, to the closing piece, "Nostalgia," with its shimmering drones and glacial textures, this album is a masterclass in atmospheric music.
Jackman's compositions are richly detailed and intricately layered, with each track unfolding like a sonic tapestry of intricate patterns and textures. The use of field recordings and found sounds adds an organic, naturalistic quality to the music, while the use of electronic processing and manipulation gives it an otherworldly, spectral quality.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Echoes of a Distant Shore," which features a hypnotic, cyclical melody that gradually builds in intensity, creating a sense of tension and release that is both exhilarating and cathartic. Another highlight is "The Long Goodbye," a hauntingly beautiful piece that combines mournful strings with shimmering electronics and distant whispers, evoking a sense of melancholy and loss.
