Review by Abiola

The album Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 by Toralf Tollefsen is a stunning showcase of virtuosity and musicality. Tollefsen's interpretation of Franz Liszt's iconic composition is breathtaking, with every note and phrase executed with precision and passion.

The album opens with a powerful rendition of the famous main theme, which Tollefsen imbues with a sense of urgency and drama. Throughout the piece, he displays an impressive range of dynamics and colors, from the thunderous cascades of notes to the delicate trills and ornaments.

Tollefsen's technical prowess is matched by his musical sensitivity, as he finds moments of lyricism and introspection amidst the bravura passages. His rubato and pacing are masterful, allowing the music to ebb and flow with naturalness and spontaneity.

The recording quality is excellent, capturing the rich tone and resonance of Tollefsen's instrument. The liner notes provide insightful background information on Liszt and his Hungarian Rhapsodies, as well as Tollefsen's own connection to the music.
