Review by Casey Mahoney

Soprano Sax Solos by Sidney Bechet is a mesmerizing album that showcases the brilliance of one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time. The album features ten tracks, all of which are solo performances by Bechet on the soprano saxophone.

From the opening track, "Summertime," to the closing number, "Blue Horizon," Bechet's virtuosity on the saxophone is on full display. His playing is characterized by a fluidity and expressiveness that is truly remarkable. He effortlessly weaves in and out of complex melodies and intricate rhythms, creating a sound that is both sophisticated and soulful.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Petite Fleur," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases Bechet's ability to convey a wide range of emotions through his playing. The track is a perfect example of the kind of magic that Bechet was able to create on the soprano saxophone.
