Ryuichi Sakamoto - Mototronic

Review by Courtney Pearson

Mototronic, the latest album by Ryuichi Sakamoto, is an impressive collection of electronic pieces that showcase the Japanese composer's versatility and creativity. The album features 10 tracks, each with its own unique flavor and style, ranging from ambient soundscapes to upbeat dance tunes.

From the opening track "ZURE", with its hypnotic rhythms and glitchy beats, to the dreamy "Andata" and the melancholic "Solari", Sakamoto takes the listener on a sonic journey through different moods and emotions. The album also features collaborations with other artists, such as the haunting vocals of Iranian singer Makan Ashgvari on "FFS" and the atmospheric guitar work of Christian Fennesz on "Garden".

Throughout the album, Sakamoto's mastery of electronic sound design is evident, as he blends organic and synthetic elements to create a rich and immersive sonic landscape. The production is top-notch, with each sound and effect carefully crafted and placed within the mix.

Sensational song performed by Iggy! June 22, 2017. I also found my risky love this year .....
magnífico vídeo
Killer dance track!
love this to eternity and back - especially with the homage to the dear departed Malcolm McLaren throughout
The tune reminds me of “Rhino Jockey” by Amon Tobin. It has the same building-up feel to it
Great Big Beat classic.
1 of my all time favourites released by Ninja tune. Epic beats
Cool like erupting

This one. When I first moved to asheville nc a few years back. I went to a friend's record shop and picked up a double album called: Various – Ninja Cuts: Funkungfusion. It fucking blew my mind!!!! There were some tracks on there that I played over and over and they FUELED me. ....This one. This one I felt run through me. Respect to a genius! Just finished watching the movie Revenant with Leo Dicaprio starring in it...I was hooked on the visuals and the music had me looking around like ,"What was that?!" (smh) I have no words to what that did to me as well. Thank YOU!!!!
I can recognize Amon Tobin's style in this one, but still it was made by Robin Brunson.
Maybe Tobin was actually inspired by this remix while making of Chaos Theory OST, as the former came out earlier than the infamous soundtrack.
Even though, inspired or not, our favorite Brazilian musician made the score his own, IDMic way :D
Superb!!   Such a chunky beat
