Review by Samantha Andrel

Peter Anders' self-titled album is a beautiful tribute to two of the greatest composers of the Romantic era, Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann. With his rich and expressive voice, Anders brings to life the emotional intensity and lyrical beauty of their compositions.

The album opens with Schubert's "Die Winterreise," a song cycle that tells the story of a lonely traveler's journey through the winter landscape. Anders' interpretation is haunting and evocative, capturing the melancholy and despair of the protagonist.

In the second half of the album, Anders turns his attention to Schumann's "Dichterliebe," a series of songs that explore the joys and sorrows of love. Anders' voice is full of tenderness and longing, conveying the depth of emotion in Schumann's music.

Throughout the album, Anders is accompanied by pianist Gerald Moore, whose sensitive playing adds to the overall beauty of the recording. The sound quality is excellent, allowing the listener to fully appreciate the nuances of Anders' voice and the intricate interplay between voice and piano.
