Pelican - City Of Echoes

Review by iScript Cancel

Pelican's album City of Echoes is a post-metal masterpiece that showcases the band's signature blend of heavy riffs, atmospheric textures, and dynamic songwriting. The album opens with the explosive track "Bliss in Concrete," which sets the tone for the rest of the record with its crushing guitar tones, intricate drum patterns, and soaring melodies. From there, the band takes the listener on a journey through a diverse range of moods and styles, from the brooding and hypnotic "City of Echoes" to the epic and cathartic "Lost in the Headlights." Throughout the album, Pelican's musicianship is on full display, as they seamlessly weave together complex arrangements and intricate harmonies with a sense of purpose and urgency. The result is a stunning and immersive listening experience that will appeal to fans of heavy music, as well as those who appreciate more experimental and avant-garde sounds. City of Echoes is a must-listen for anyone who wants to explore the outer limits of post-metal and discover the power of music to evoke emotions and transcend boundaries.

The band's third album City of Echoes finds them even attempting to go farther to metal, including more B-major key songwriting and less muscular distortion typical of Emocore: in fact, songs like the title track could have been written by bands like The Get Up Kids, Weezer, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Hoobastank. "Winds with Hands" is entirely acoustic and doesn't feature any drumming, "Lost in the Headlights" is based over Post-Punk stoppato riffing, and the rest, while decent, is a bit somnolent.Highlights: "Spaceship Broken --Parts Needed", "Winds with Hands".
Brilliant. Love you guys.
the lyrics are epic, more music should be like that :p
Who knew one could listen to the same song over and over again and never get tired of it
Whatever you were trying to accomplish with this record guys, it resonated with me immensely. Such good songwriting
This song is so amazing *.*

Wtf now the advertisements are popping up after the song starts playing? Youtube is fucked.
I forgot about this cd until it came up my player a few weeks ago. love this riff, a great Friday track for that evil commute if you have one. I guess they never became popular but they were great live saw em 3 times with Torche etc.

For the love of god yeeeessssss
unnnnhhh yessssss
This song inspired my best piece in my ap art portfolio. I just can't fathom, how beautiful this piece was, composed with such a sense of blissful harmony, at the same time having such a grey atmosphere to it, to me it reminds me of staying up all night waiting for the answer to whatever you need, as the sun rises and shines its warmth on your wonderful face, in that exact moment is when you find what youve been looking for. A sense of contentment and triumph fills your mind and body, no matter how big or small the answer was, the fact of the matter is that it was answered. Bless you all, you are all wonderful in you're own unique way and I don't know you but you are strong, wait until the sun shines on you, you won't regret it!
Oh yes.
Yes
Nice song
I love this band. Anyone else get a life without buildings vibe here?
Absolute serenity, and personal empowerment.
Goodbye, Dad.
