Review by Patricia Lyra

Lessons In Living by Mose Allison is a classic album that showcases the talent and creativity of one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century. Released in 1982, the album features a collection of original compositions and covers that blend blues, jazz, and folk influences into a unique and compelling sound.

The album is characterized by Allison's distinctive voice, which is both soulful and playful, and his virtuoso piano playing, which ranges from delicate and introspective to explosive and dynamic. The songs on Lessons In Living are full of wit, wisdom, and humor, and they explore a wide range of themes, from love and loss to politics and social commentary.

Some of the standout tracks on the album include "Your Mind Is On Vacation," a sly and witty song about the dangers of overthinking, "My Brain," a jazzy instrumental that showcases Allison's piano skills, and "Everybody's Cryin' Mercy," a haunting ballad that speaks to the pain and suffering of the human condition.
