About Love Society

The Love Society from Wisconsin, were no strangers to success. Their Tee Pee-released single, a harmony-laden ballad interpretation of Bobby Freemans Do You Wanna Dance was picked up for national distribution by Scepter Records in the summer of 1968 and followed up by a cover of Tobacco Road. When that second record failed to meet Scepters expectations, the band cut another single with Target, an original Al Posniak 50s styled pop track. This song, the flip side, impressed RCA Victor, and the band cut a new A-side and released it nationally. After another less than successful follow-up and aborted album sessions in Chicago, the band cut a single for Mercury in late 1970 before calling it a day.

Best slow dance song. Hawaii early 70s
A gem!
Taped this one off WMCA radio (Home of the Good Guys, AM57 New York) on 21 August 1968. Still have it on an aging tape cassette. I’d never heard it anywhere BUT my cassette.

WOKY mighty 690.
Brings me back to WOSH, the Mighty 1490, Oshkosh, and Dave Steffen's incredible lead guitar. Thanks, Plymouth boys!
I have been looking for this version FOREVER!!... Earl Damessageguy is right.. this is the best verion of this song. We use to play it at club gatherings in high school.. this version is not in I tunes..Damn!!!
Been looking for song for ages.  It brings me back memories of slow dancing with those high school girls.  Thanks so much!
The guy that is singing in this song, has a band now called Dave Steffen. We go and listen to them all the time.
My dad, Mike Holdridge, was one of the guys in the band. He played the organ and sang as well. So cool to hear this online as I took a lot of time years ago to put a bunch of their songs from vinal onto a CD for him.
My mom was showing me her 1969 year book and I commented saying this dude looks cool and she says oh he was in this band. I was like no way, I've heard them.. Maybe on nuggets?
