Review by paper clip

The Blues And The Beat is a timeless masterpiece of jazz and blues by the legendary Henry Mancini. The album, released in 1960, showcases Mancini's versatility as a composer and arranger, as he seamlessly blends blues and jazz with his signature lush orchestral sound.

The album opens with the upbeat and catchy "The Beat," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Mancini's arrangements are masterful, with each instrument playing off each other in perfect harmony. The album is a perfect showcase for Mancini's talent as a composer and arranger, with each track showcasing a different aspect of his musical genius.

The title track, "The Blues And The Beat," is a standout, with its moody, bluesy feel and haunting trumpet solo. Mancini's use of the trumpet throughout the album is particularly noteworthy, as it adds a layer of emotional depth to the music.

Hank Mancini at its Best!! I was attending USF in San Francisco when I first heard this Outstanding álbum! Thanks for posting! Best regards from Guatemala City to all Mancini music lovers!
I LOVE all of these comments by kids that did not grow up with this--I woke up to it every morning went to sleep with it every night-1959
I've noticed that you post many Mancini tracks from many different albums. I have every singe album, movie soundtrack, whatever, that he recorded. One of my most treasured possessions are old reel to reel tapes Mancini gave me as a gift a million years ago. On them are recording sessions for some of his early tv shows...Peter Gunn, Mr. Lucky....and what's fascinating about them, is these are mostly outtakes, flubs, guys telling dirty jokes and other stuff way before the final track was cut. To hear Ted Nash (trombone) scream at his brother (Ted) for screwing something up, is priceless.
I've somehow either lost, misplaced or my wife accidentally threw away most of the old albums (not the reel to reels thank God). Please keep posting his stuff and I will be grateful. Thanks!
Happy, upbeat easy going sound which Mancini had the knack for.
Agree! It's one of my favorite Mancini Jazz albums as well!
This is sadly one of those great albums that I think has fallen thru the cracks over the years. I bought it when it first came out in 1960 and listen to it often. It is easily one of Mancini's best albums and my favorite of his big band jazz efforts, all of which are outstanding.
