Passing Thru, the latest album by the Heath Brothers, is a stunning display of jazz musicianship. The trio, consisting of brothers Jimmy, Percy, and Albert "Tootie" Heath, has been playing together for over 40 years, and their chemistry is evident in every note they play.
The album features a mix of original compositions and covers, ranging from the uptempo "Changes" to the soulful "Smilin' Billy Suite." Each track is expertly crafted, with intricate solos and tight rhythms that showcase the trio's mastery of their instruments.
One standout track is "Gingerbread Boy," a classic jazz tune that the Heath Brothers infuse with their own unique style. Jimmy's saxophone playing is particularly impressive, with lightning-fast runs and soaring melodies that leave the listener breathless.
