Review by Kevin Leigh

Symphony No 97 In C by Haydn, performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Sir Thomas Beecham, is a masterpiece of classical music. The album features four movements that showcase Haydn's ability to create complex and intricate compositions that are both soothing and uplifting.

The opening movement, Adagio - Vivace, is a lively and energetic piece that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The second movement, Adagio ma non troppo, is a slower, more contemplative piece that allows the listener to reflect on the beauty of the music. The third movement, Minuetto, is a delightful and playful piece that showcases the orchestra's ability to create a light and airy sound.

The final movement, Finale: Presto, is a fast-paced and exciting piece that brings the album to a thrilling conclusion. The London Philharmonic Orchestra's performance is flawless, with each member of the orchestra contributing to the overall beauty of the music. Sir Thomas Beecham's direction is masterful, bringing out the best in each musician and creating a cohesive and harmonious sound.

About Haydn, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Sir Thomas Beecham

Born: 1732-03-31 (Rohrau, Austria) Born 31 march or 1st April, 1732. Died: 1809-09-05 (Vienna, Austria). Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He brings the "sonata form" to a very high degree of improvement. His symphonies and his string quartets (forms of which he is considered "the father") have become highly inspirational style models. Haydn made a fundamental contribution to the development of chamber music; thanks to the numerous quartets, trios for piano, for strings and also with the unusual trios for baryton, viola and cello.
